The UNESCO World Heritage Site, Valley of Flowers, was officially closed for winter on Thursday, October 31, to ensure the protection of its wildlife during the off-season. The valley, which opens annually on June 1, is closed to visitors each year on October 31.
Around 12 PM on Thursday, the valley was closed to tourists. This year, a total of 19,436 tourists visited, including 330 foreign visitors, generating a revenue of ₹39.39 lakh for the park administration.
Forest Officer Chetna Kandpal stated that the valley saw a substantial number of visitors this season, which brought in notable revenue. To protect wildlife, five trap cameras have been installed, and departmental teams will continue to inspect the valley periodically.
