AIIMS Rishikesh Launches ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign

Rishikesh, 13 September: In celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, AIIMS Rishikesh initiated the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, aiming to promote cleanliness and environmental conservation. As part of the campaign, several cleanliness drives and tree plantation activities were organized to spread awareness about environmental preservation.

The two-week-long cleanliness campaign was inaugurated by AIIMS Executive Director, Professor (Dr.) Meenu Singh, who emphasized the importance of achieving the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission. She highlighted that it is the duty of every citizen to contribute to the success of this mission, which aims to create a cleaner and healthier environment. Dr. Singh further urged everyone to encourage the community to adopt cleanliness practices and educate them about its benefits.

Dr. Meenu Singh stated that the mission’s objective goes beyond merely cleaning surroundings. It also aims to engage citizens in mass tree plantation, create a garbage-free environment, and promote the construction of public toilets in required areas, contributing to the creation of a truly clean India.

 

During the event, AIIMS officials planted various species of trees across the campus, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation. Medical Superintendent, Professor Sanjeev Kumar Mittal, spoke about the role of trees in improving environmental quality and fostering a clean and green environment. The event also included a cleanliness drive at Aastha Path, with participants working to maintain public sanitation.

Dr. Pooja Bhadauria, the program coordinator, shared that the campaign also focused on waste management, raising awareness about the proper segregation and disposal of wet and dry waste. To further the initiative, waste bins were installed along Aastha Path to encourage responsible waste disposal.

 

It is noteworthy that the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched nationwide on 2 October 2014. The AIIMS Rishikesh campaign aligns with this movement, reinforcing its commitment to cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
