The Uttarakhand Kedarnath route has been disrupted after the sudden breakage of the Tharu Glacier on the trekking path. The incident occurred at a time when workers and staff were engaged in preparations for the upcoming Kedarnath Yatra.
According to initial information, the glacier collapse has blocked a section of the pedestrian route, creating difficulties for movement in the area. Despite the sudden development, no casualties have been reported so far.
Officials said that temporary movement is being managed by crossing over the snow, but the situation remains risky for workers and others present at the site. The disruption has raised concerns as preparations for the pilgrimage are currently underway.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) stated that teams have been deployed to clear the route and restore normal movement at the earliest. Efforts are ongoing to reopen the affected stretch and ensure safe passage for pilgrims.
