52 Primary Schools in Uttarakhand Awarded for Model Libraries

Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, 52 primary schools in Uttarakhand have been awarded the prestigious Model Library Award. The award ceremony was held at a hotel on Rajpur Road, where Director-General of Education, Jharna Kamthan, presented the awards to the school principals.

During the event, Kamthan emphasized the importance of well-organized libraries in schools to foster a reading culture among students. She highlighted that libraries are essential parts of any educational institution, benefiting not only the students but also the wider community. Kamthan urged all schools to maintain their libraries effectively.

Bandana Garbyal, Director of Academic Research and Training, commended the award-winning schools for their dedication to organizing libraries under challenging conditions. Mukul Kumar Sati, Additional State Project Director, mentioned that efforts are being made to improve school libraries in conjunction with the Nipun Bharat Mission, focusing on language and numerical skills.

The event was organized by Samagra Shiksha in collaboration with Room to Read, and it was attended by several officials, including Ajay Kumar Naudiyal, Additional Director of SCERT, Shaktidhar Mishra, Program Director of Room to Read India, Asha Rani Panyuli, and Kuldeep Gairola.

Additionally, the following educators from various districts were honored for their contributions to maintaining their school libraries:

  • Almora District: Ram Singh Saini, Ganesh Paliwal, Geeta Khatri, Navita Verma
  • Bageshwar District: Balwant Kalokoti, Neeta Almiya, Khyali Datt Sharma, Vishnudatt Joshi
  • Chamoli District: Damayanti Rawat, Shashi Kandwal, Kiran Purohit, Rajendra Singh Negi
  • Champawat District: Rekha Bora, Meeta Verma, Kamlesh Joshi, Khadak Singh Bora
  • Dehradun District: Neelam Mehta, Geeta Lingwal, Neera Devi, Rekha Devi
  • Haridwar District: Robin Kumar, Dharmveer, Pankaj Kumar Chauhan, Manju Lata
  • Nainital District: Mamta Gupta, Anita Pathak, Pushpa Suyal, Sanjay Bisht
  • Pauri District: Asha Budakoti, Kalpana Tiwari, Bhupendra Singh, Anju Kukreti
  • Pithoragarh District: Jeevan Singh Negi, Kaman Singh, Jyoti Kohli, Dinesh Bhandari
  • Rudraprayag District: Kusum Sati, Vijayram Goswami, Sulekha, Devesh Chandra Bhatt
  • Tehri District: Ravindra Kathait, Shakti Prasad Uniyal, Mahavir Uniyal, Vijay Singh Rawat
  • Udham Singh Nagar District: Mukul Arora, Dharmpal Gangwar, Rakesh Singh, Vimal Kumar
  • Uttarkashi District: Sarita, Manjit Rawat, Sanjay Kukshal, Ramesh Panwar

These individuals were recognized for their outstanding work in maintaining and organizing libraries, contributing significantly to the education system in Uttarakhand.
