In a significant anti-corruption drive, the Vigilance Department of Uttarakhand has arrested two government officials on bribery charges. The officials were caught red-handed in separate operations conducted by the Vigilance Trap Team from Dehradun.
The first arrest took place in Pauri, where Revenue Inspector Kailash Ravi was apprehended for accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from a complainant. The bribe was allegedly taken to register the complainant’s father’s name in the official accounts of Patrik village, Naogaon.
In another operation, Excise Inspector Jaybir Singh from Chamoli district was arrested while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. The complainant had reported that Jaybir Singh was exploiting his position by demanding money in exchange for clearing the regular revenue for a non-army district English liquor shop, despite no irregularities in the revenue payments.
