Former legislators and individuals with notable contributions to society in Uttarakhand will now be given state honours during their funerals. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made this announcement on Wednesday during the ongoing assembly session.
The announcement came after BSP MLA Mohammad Shahzad paid tribute in the House to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and former Jwalapur MLA Chandrashekhar. He urged the Chief Minister to ensure that public representatives are given a state honour at their cremation. Agreeing with the suggestion, CM Dhami said that recently deceased artist Ghanna Bhai was accorded state honours, and moving forward, all former MLAs and those with significant societal contributions will be given the same recognition.
