Dehradun, October 12, 2024: The traffic police of Dehradun have announced special arrangements to manage the city’s traffic flow during the Dussehra festival celebration at Parade Ground. The traffic regulations will come into effect at 12:00 PM on October 12 and will remain in place until the completion of the event.
Procession Route and Zero-Vehicle Zone
The Dussehra procession is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM and will reach Parade Ground by 4:00 PM. The route for the procession will pass through Shri Kalika Temple, Moti Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Rajpur Road, Esley Hall, and Kanak Chowk before arriving at Parade Ground. To ensure smooth movement and safety, a zero-vehicle zone will be enforced around Parade Ground, restricting vehicle access in the area.

Traffic Plans for Vikram and Magic Vehicles
- Route No. 03: Vikram vehicles will operate only up to Tehsil Chowk, from where they will divert towards Doon Chowk, MKP Chowk, and head towards CMI and Dharampur.
- Route No. 05: Vikram vehicles on this route will turn back at the railway gate during the event.
- Route No. 08: Similarly, Vikrams on this route will turn back at the railway gate.
- Route No. 02: Vikram vehicles on Pant Road will not operate from their usual stand and will turn back at Sahastradhara Crossing.
Traffic Plans for City Buses
- Cantt-Rajpur Road Bus Service: These buses will operate only from the petrol pump located at Orient Chowk on Rajpur Road.
- Clement Town-Rajpur Road Kuthal Gate: These buses will travel via Darshan Lal Chowk and Clock Tower.
- Raipur Road Maldevta-Sahastradhara Road Bus Service: This service will run from Chuna Bhatta on Raipur Road.

The following points will be restricted to general traffic:

- Darshan Lal Chowk
- Dunga House Tiraaha
- Kanak Chowk
- Rozgar Tiraaha
- Convent
- Orient Chowk
- Lansdowne Chowk
- Survey Chowk
- Hotel Pacific Tiraaha
- Manoj Clinic
Parking Arrangements
- General Parking: Available at Rangers Ground and Mangla Devi Inter College.
- VIP/Official Parking: Located behind the stage at Parade Ground and at Doon Club.
If these parking areas reach capacity, alternative parking spaces have been arranged at:
- Secretariat/Lord Venkateshwara/SGRR School (Rajpur Road side)
- Janpath Market Bindal Parking (Ballupur/Kishannagar side)
- Women’s Polytechnic Parking Survey Chowk (Raipur/Sahastradhara Crossing side)
- Kacheri Parking/Himalayan Arms to Doon Chowk (Saharanpur Road/Prince Chowk side)
Advisory for Vehicle Owners
The traffic police have requested residents and visitors attending the Dussehra festival to park their vehicles only in designated parking areas. Attendees are encouraged to use two-wheelers wherever possible for ease of movement. Vehicles involved in essential services will be permitted to operate during the event.
