Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Hindi Diwas 2024’ celebration organized by the Uttarakhand Language Institute at the IRDT Auditorium in Dehradun. During the event, he launched the book “Folk Tales of Uttarakhand“ and honored students for their achievements in poetry, story writing, travelogue writing, and playwriting competitions. He also felicitated students who scored the highest marks in Hindi in board examinations.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami extended his greetings on Hindi Diwas and emphasized that Hindi is not just a language but the soul of the nation. He highlighted how Hindi has united society and enriched civilization. The Chief Minister praised the global influence of Hindi and the continuous efforts made by the state government for its promotion. He appreciated the Uttarakhand Language Institute for its innovative initiatives in promoting Hindi and other languages in the state.
CM Dhami also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to promote Hindi on global platforms through programs like “Mann Ki Baat,” which has elevated the language’s international stature. He encouraged the youth to embrace multiple languages and take pride in Hindi, aiming to make it one of the dominant languages of the 21st century.
Language Minister Subodh Uniyal expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister for his support and highlighted the institute’s ongoing efforts to promote regional languages and literature. He also mentioned that the government has increased the cash prize for the prestigious Sahitya Bhushan Award to INR 5 lakhs, which will be awarded annually.
