In a crucial meeting held at the Dehradun Municipal Office on September 14, 2024, District Magistrate Savin Bansal led discussions with key officials to explore solutions for the city’s ongoing traffic and parking issues. The meeting was attended by officials from various departments, including the Municipal Commissioner, the Chief Development Officer, the Superintendent of Traffic Police, and engineers from public works and other departments.
The meeting focused on improving parking facilities by considering suggestions from citizens and public representatives. Automated mechanical parking systems, which require minimal space and can be relocated, emerged as a practical solution. These parking structures, with lower costs than permanent construction, could provide significant relief from the city’s traffic congestion.
The District Magistrate emphasized the need for a coordinated effort among departments to quickly identify suitable locations for automated parking facilities. He directed officials to submit proposals for sites where work can begin immediately and highlighted the importance of low-cost, efficient solutions to alleviate parking problems in high-traffic areas.
Automated parking systems will soon be visible across the city, providing relief from traffic jams and overcrowded streets. The administration’s proactive approach aims to complete these projects in minimal time while maintaining cost-efficiency. Proposals will be sent to the state government for approval after thorough inspection of the designated sites.
