Dehradun. In a major step towards strengthening higher education, the Uttarakhand government has appointed permanent principals to 14 government postgraduate colleges across the state. Following instructions from Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, official orders have been issued at the governance level to finalize these promotions. The newly promoted principals have been directed to join their designated postings without delay. Additionally, the department has been advised to fill vacant principal positions at the undergraduate level.
Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat informed the media that 14 principals at the undergraduate level have been promoted to postgraduate colleges under the Higher Education Department. Orders for these promotions have been issued, and these principals are expected to join their new postings promptly. Dr. Madhuri, currently serving as principal of Government College Jakholi, has been promoted to Government Postgraduate College Nagnath Pokhari.
Similarly, Dr. Pratap Singh Jagwan, principal of Government College Guptkashi, will now serve at Narayan Nagar Postgraduate College in Pithoragarh; Dr. Rajesh Kumar Ubhan from Narendra Nagar College has been appointed to Rudrapur PG College; and Dr. Madan Prasad Nagwal, principal of Dehradun City College, has been assigned to Gopeshwar PG College. Other notable appointments include Dr. Mamta from the Dehradun Regional Office to PG College Kapkot, and Dr. Vijay Kumar Agarwal of Kotdwar College to Government Vocational College Paithani.
Minister Dr. Rawat emphasized that principals who refuse promotion will face action under the Forgo Rules. He highlighted that the state government is making concerted efforts to fill vacant teaching and administrative positions to improve the quality and efficiency of education in state colleges.
