Mussoorie, 5 Nov: The Horticulture Department has taken a unique initiative to promote the Green Revolution and environmental protection in Dehradun district. Under the direction of the Chief Horticulture Officer, Dehradun, grow bags were distributed to residents here to promote rooftop gardening. This program was organized with the aim of improving the city’s green environment and encouraging urban gardening.
Under this initiative, local residents and gardening enthusiasts were provided grow bags containing the necessary soil and nutrients for growing plants. This allows people to grow vegetables, flowers, and herbal plants even in limited space. Chief Horticulture Officer DK Tiwari said, “Our aim is to increase greenery in cities and inspire people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Rooftop gardening will not only make the rooftops of homes green but will also help in environmental protection. We want every home to experience freshness and greenery.” During the grow bag distribution program, the department also provided attendees information on rooftop gardening methods, plant care, and nutrition. The citizens attending the program appreciated this initiative and called it an important step towards a greener environment in the city.
According to experts, rooftop gardening not only provides a greener environment in urban areas but also contributes to temperature control and clean air. Mussoorie BJP Mandal President Rajat Agarwal said that the Horticulture Department plans to continue this initiative and reach as many people as possible. More new programs will be organized in the coming months to ensure that every home’s rooftop is filled with greenery.
