Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder of notorious western Uttar Pradesh gangster Vinay Tyagi in Laksar. The SSP has directed that the investigation be conducted in a factual, impartial, and time-bound manner, examining every aspect of the incident in detail.

The incident occurred on December 24 when Vinay Tyagi was being taken from Roorkee Jail to Laksar court for a hearing. During transit, bike-borne assailants opened indiscriminate fire on the police vehicle, seriously injuring Tyagi with multiple gunshot wounds. He was referred to AIIMS for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning after three days of treatment.

Following Tyagi’s death, the police converted the case from attempt to murder to murder. Two accused involved in the firing incident were arrested earlier, and further investigation was initiated to trace the full sequence of events and the motive behind the attack.

On Sunday night, SSP Pramendra Singh Dobal officially formed the SIT under the leadership of City CO Shishupal Singh Negi. The SSP instructed the team to thoroughly examine all evidence, circumstances, and procedural aspects related to the incident and submit a detailed report within the stipulated time frame.
