Uttarakhand Cold Wave: Haridwar Anganwadi Centres Shut for Six Days

Due to an ongoing cold wave, all Anganwadi centres in Haridwar district will remain closed for six days to protect children’s health. The Women Empowerment and Child Development Department has announced a winter break from January 5 to January 10, citing severe cold conditions in the region.

Despite the closure, Anganwadi workers will continue to perform departmental duties and BHLO-related work during the holiday period. The order in this regard has been issued by the District Programme Officer, Child Development, Haridwar.

Meanwhile, dense fog has added to public inconvenience across several districts of Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in parts of the state. Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar are experiencing foggy conditions similar to cold day situations, affecting daily life.

According to the weather department’s forecast, dense fog may prevail in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital and Champawat. In hilly areas, frost is expected to intensify dry cold conditions. However, as the weather is likely to remain dry, no major fluctuation in temperatures is expected.
