The murder investigation of Jharkhand-based gangster Vikram Sharma has taken a complex turn as police uncover multiple rivalries and a wide support network allegedly involved in the crime. Investigators say the conspiracy behind the killing appears to have been meticulously planned, resembling a scripted crime thriller.
According to sources, three shooters reached Haridwar using different modes of transport. They reportedly assembled there before travelling to Dehradun, where the murder was carried out. After executing the crime, the assailants fled together from the scene but later dispersed beyond Haridwar, again using separate routes and transport methods to evade detection.
As the probe progresses, authorities are identifying several individuals who reportedly had longstanding enmity with Vikram Sharma. Investigators have also found that the shooters allegedly received assistance from multiple contacts stretching from Jharkhand to Uttarakhand. This expanding network of suspected aides has further complicated efforts to untangle the conspiracy.
Police records indicate that Vikram Sharma was a prominent figure in the criminal underworld of Jharkhand, with more than 50 cases registered against him. He was accused in several high-profile cases, including the 2007 murder of businessman Ashish Dey near Sakchi Am Bagan and the 2008 killing of Tata Steel security officer Jayaram Singh in Bistupur.
Sources suggest that Sharma’s attempts to consolidate influence and elevate his associate Akhilesh Singh as a dominant figure in the region may have intensified rivalries. Over the years, he was reportedly involved in conflicts with several criminal groups, including those led by Dadey Yadav and Bada Nizam, both of whom were later killed. Recent reports also mention tensions with Ganesh Singh.
