Uttarakhand Board Exams from Tomorrow, Strict Anti-Cheating Measures

Board examinations for Class 10 and 12 under the Uttarakhand Board of School Education will begin from 21 February and continue till 20 March 2026. The government has issued strict directions to ensure fair conduct, security at centres and prevention of malpractice.

A total of 1,261 examination centres have been set up across the state, including 156 sensitive and six highly sensitive centres. More than two lakh students will appear for the exams. In High School, 1,12,679 candidates are registered, including 1,10,573 institutional and 2,106 private students. For Intermediate, 1,03,442 candidates will appear, including 99,345 institutional and 4,097 private students.

Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has directed all District Magistrates to provide full security to centre superintendents and invigilators. He stressed that the confidentiality of question papers must not be compromised under any circumstances. Strict action has been ordered against the use of unfair means, breach of question paper secrecy and any violent activities.

District authorities have been instructed to divide examination centres into sectors. Each sector will be headed by a Sector Magistrate, preferably a Sub-Divisional Magistrate, City Magistrate or Deputy Collector. Ideally, one sector should not have more than 10–12 centres. Sector Magistrates will be responsible for regular inspection and smooth conduct of exams.

In case of information or suspicion of mass copying at any centre, the concerned session’s exam may be cancelled or shifted to another centre. The use of electronic devices including mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, earphones and any communication gadgets is strictly prohibited inside centres.

Section 163 has been imposed within 100 metres of examination centres. Gathering of five or more persons, carrying weapons and use of loudspeakers in this area will not be permitted.

The Board has clarified that if a student forgets or loses the admit card, the centre superintendent may allow entry for one paper based on the roll list. For subsequent papers, a duplicate admit card must be issued by the school principal.

Students have also been instructed not to write any religious symbols or personal identifiers such as “Om” or “786” on answer sheets. Any such act may be treated as use of unfair means. Candidates will be given an additional 15 minutes to read the question paper before starting the exam.

Among the six highly sensitive centres, four are in Haridwar district, while one each is in Pithoragarh and Almora. This year, 24 new centres have been added and 50 single-centre schools have been identified.

To ensure uninterrupted conduct of examinations, the government has imposed a six-month ban on strikes in the School Education Department, including the Board.
