Ukhimath: In a grand atmosphere filled with devotion, chants, and celebration, the Panchmukhi Doli of Baba Kedarnath was ceremoniously seated at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, marking the beginning of the deity’s six-month winter sojourn. The entire region echoed with chants of “Jai Baba Kedar” and “Har Har Mahadev” as thousands of devotees welcomed the arrival.
After the Kedarnath temple gates closed on Bhai Dooj (23 October) for winter, the Panchmukhi Doli began its sacred journey. The procession first halted for a night stay at Nyalso Rampur, followed by stops at Guptkashi’s Vishwanath Temple, Semi-Bhaisari, and Talachunni, where large numbers of devotees gathered to offer prayers and floral tributes.
Early on Saturday morning, priests performed Vedic rituals and special prayers for the moving idol of Baba Kedarnath and Lord Vishwanath. The main priest, Shantalin, led the worship ceremonies accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of army bands and devotional songs.
Around 1 PM, the Doli reached its destination at the Omkareshwar Temple complex, where devotees showered flowers as the idol completed a ceremonial circumambulation before being installed at its sacred seat. The atmosphere remained charged with spiritual energy as chants and traditional hymns filled the air.
For the next six months, daily worship, rituals, and offerings for Baba Kedarnath will be conducted at Omkareshwar Temple — the winter abode of one of the most revered Jyotirlingas in the Himalayas.
