Bike Theft Gang Busted in Uttarakhand: Two Arrested, 13 Stolen Bikes Recovered

Selakui police have arrested two members of a notorious bike theft gang from western Uttar Pradesh. The suspects, identified as Shobhit Raj from Lakhimpur Kheri and Gautam Singh from Kannauj, were caught with a stolen bike during a vehicle check. Following their arrest, police recovered 13 stolen motorcycles, all from a specific model of a single brand, without number plates.

According to officials, the accused stole bikes to fund their expensive lifestyle. Their arrest followed an investigation into the theft of a contractor’s bike from Bhauwala fairground. CCTV footage helped identify the duo, leading to their capture. During interrogation, the suspects revealed they had stolen bikes from multiple locations, including Haridwar’s Bhagwanpur area.

The accused, who were once schoolmates, claimed financial constraints and extravagant habits pushed them into crime. Further investigations are underway to trace the owners of the recovered vehicles using engine and chassis numbers.
