Tehri – A car accident on the Thatyud–Mussoorie–Dehradun road near Satagad in Tehri Garhwal led to the death of yoga teacher Amit Pawar, aged 32. He was returning to his home in Almas village after attending a wedding in Odarsu late at night when his vehicle reportedly went out of control and fell into a deep gorge. The incident occurred about four kilometres from his village.
The accident came to light early in the morning when local residents on a routine walk noticed the damaged vehicle and alerted Thatyud police. A police team reached the site and, with the support of the 108 ambulance service, transported Pawar to the Community Health Centre, Thatyud, where he was declared dead.
Station House Officer Mahavir Rawat confirmed that the family has been informed and stated that the post-mortem will be conducted at the Civil Hospital in Mussoorie. Pawar was employed as a yoga teacher at the well-known St. George’s School in Mussoorie and was the sole earning member of his family.
The sudden death has caused deep grief in the area, highlighting once again the recurring concern over road safety on hilly routes, where poor visibility and narrow passages often increase the risk of accidents.
