In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Sahaspur police arrested two individuals involved in smuggling charas from the hilly region of Uttarkashi to Dehradun. The arrested individuals are the driver and conductor of a private bus, who had been using their vehicle to discreetly transport illegal substances. Approximately 2.580 kilograms of charas, valued at around ₹5 lakh, was seized during the operation.
According to police reports, the bus, owned by Garg Travels, was en route from Uttarkashi to Dehradun when it was stopped for routine checking in Vikasnagar. During the search, police found a hidden compartment under the bus seats where the charas was concealed. The accused were identified as Naseem, a resident of Jeevangarh, Vikasnagar, and Talib, from Bhandari Bagh, Dehradun.

The bust was part of a larger anti-drug trafficking initiative led by SSP Ajay Singh, under which Sahaspur police conducted a thorough search of vehicles entering Dehradun. Acting on a tip-off, they targeted a private bus with registration number UK07PA0712, which was travelling from Gundiyad village, Purala, Uttarkashi. Upon inspection, the police discovered the hidden stash of charas, specially concealed in a custom-made compartment under the seat.
The bus driver, Naseem, and the conductor, Talib, confessed to having smuggled charas on multiple occasions using the bus as a cover. They have been charged under the NDPS Act and produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
