Chardham Yatra 2025: No VIP Darshan in First Month to Manage Crowd

Dehradun – To ensure smooth crowd management during the initial phase of the Chardham Yatra, the Uttarakhand government has decided to prohibit VIP darshan for the first month. Chief Minister’s Secretary and Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey announced that no special darshan facilities will be available for VIPs during this period. However, VIPs willing to join the general queue like regular devotees will be welcomed.

The Garhwal Commissioner highlighted that the influx of pilgrims is usually high in the initial days of the yatra, which often leads to mismanagement. Prioritizing VIP darshan affects the experience of common pilgrims, resulting in long wait times. Therefore, the government has taken this step to streamline the process and maintain order.

While this restriction is currently applicable for the first month, the administration may reconsider the decision depending on the crowd situation. Additionally, police personnel and mobile teams will be stationed every 10 kilometers along the yatra route to provide immediate assistance during emergencies.
