The Uttarakhand government is considering increasing the daily food allowance for players participating in the Chief Minister Championship Trophy under the state’s Khel Mahakumbh initiative. The allowance, currently fixed at ₹225 per day, may be raised to ₹350 after due review.
The Chief Minister Championship Trophy, launched on November 23, 2025, began at the Nyaya Panchayat level and progressed up to the state level. More than 1.62 lakh players participated in the competition across different stages. At present, the Youth Welfare Department receives ₹225 per player per day to arrange meals during the event.
The proposal to enhance the allowance has been put forward by the Provincial Guard and Youth Welfare Department. Officials argue that the existing amount is insufficient to ensure quality meals three times a day for players. To address this concern, the department has recommended increasing the daily food allocation to ₹350.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during the closing ceremony of the championship, directed officials to examine the proposal and include it in a formal CM announcement after assessment. The move is being seen as an attempt to strengthen facilities for grassroots-level athletes.

In addition to the food allowance revision, the department has also proposed the formation of CM Sports Clubs at every Gram Panchayat level, with an annual assistance of ₹10,000 per club. There is also a proposal to establish training centres and hostels for outstanding performers of the championship. Both proposals have been directed for review before being incorporated into official announcements.
