CM Dhami Attends MP Sports Festival 2025 Closing Ceremony in Dehradun

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the closing ceremony of MP Sports Festival 2025 at the Old Multipurpose Hall, Tibetan Market, Dehradun, and honoured winners from various sports events.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary and said sports play an important role in youth development. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the event virtually and encouraged athletes.

The Chief Minister said the MP Sports Festival has become a platform for identifying sports talent from villages and grassroots levels, helping players move towards district, state and national competitions. He added that traditional and local sports are also getting renewed recognition through the festival.

Referring to the 38th National Games, the Chief Minister said Uttarakhand athletes won 103 medals. He said the state is strengthening sports infrastructure and is implementing a Sports Legacy Plan to set up 23 sports academies in eight cities. He also informed that work is underway for establishing a sports university in Haldwani and a women’s sports college in Lohaghat.

Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Lok Sabha MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Vinod Uniyal, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, CDO Abhinav Shah and players were present at the event.
