Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday addressed a press conference in Dehradun and said that development works worth around ₹40,000 crore will begin in Uttarakhand with support from the Union Budget. He said the state will move forward with development while maintaining a balance between growth and environmental protection.
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special attachment to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, which is reflected in the budget provisions made for the state. He described the Union Budget as balanced and said it opens strong possibilities for regional and sector-based development, especially for hill states like Uttarakhand.
CM Dhami said the budget reflects the Prime Minister’s long-term vision and the goal of building a developed India. He informed that Uttarakhand is expected to receive around ₹1,800 crore more under the 16th Finance Commission, which will strengthen the state’s financial position.
He said the development of mountain trekking trails will create new employment opportunities in rural and hilly areas. Local youth will benefit through skill development as trekking guides and support staff. The Chief Minister also said that horticulture crops such as almonds and walnuts will be promoted to support farmers and boost the rural economy.
According to the Chief Minister, reviving local industries will help generate employment and strengthen livelihoods. Increased focus on tourism and related infrastructure is expected to further expand job opportunities across the state. He said the budget has been prepared keeping in mind the future economic needs of the country.
During the press conference, CM Dhami also said that the state government will request the central government to approve an AIIMS for the AYUSH sector, which would strengthen healthcare and traditional medicine systems in Uttarakhand.
