Dangerous Access Route Forces Gunad Village Residents to Risk Lives Daily

Residents of Gunad village are forced to risk their lives every day due to a badly damaged access route that has remained unsafe for the past four months. The road leading to the village in Seragadh gram panchayat has been broken since July, forcing villagers to rely on temporary wooden poles to cross the stretch.

The damaged path runs along a steep rocky section, increasing the risk of serious accidents. Villagers have expressed strong concern, saying daily movement on these poles is unsafe, especially for elderly people, women and children. Despite repeated complaints to authorities, no repair work has started so far.

Local area panchayat member Nandkishore Thapliyal and village head Neeraj Raturi said villagers have no option but to use the dangerous route as it is the only access to the village. They added that the situation has remained unchanged for months despite written requests.

Since the route passes through forest land, its maintenance falls under the Forest Department. Western Pindar Range Ranger Akhilesh Bhatt stated that an estimate for repair work has been prepared and sent to the division. The repair work will begin once approval is received.
