The Dehradun district administration has taken strict action against violations found during road cutting work at ISBT Crossing and Saharanpur Road, Majra. Acting on the directions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the administration cancelled the permission granted to the concerned agency and ordered immediate restoration of the damaged roads.
A Quick Response Team (QRT) led by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Judicial) Kumkum Joshi inspected road cutting sites across the city. During inspection, serious violations of the approved conditions were found at ISBT Crossing and Saharanpur Road, Majra. The ongoing work was causing traffic disruption, inconvenience to the public, and safety risks.
The road cutting permission was earlier granted to the Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PITCUL) for laying an underground cable for the 132 KV Majra–Lal Tappar line from the 135 KV Araghar sub-station. The permission allowed work only during night hours from 10 pm to 5 am between January 16 and February 15, 2026, under strict conditions.
However, the inspection revealed that the agency violated these conditions. Taking the matter seriously, the district administration immediately stopped the road cutting work and cancelled the permission until further orders.
The administration has directed PITCUL to complete road filling and restoration work at all affected locations by the evening of February 2, 2026. Officials have clearly warned that failure to restore the roads within the given time will lead to registration of cases against the responsible executive engineers, officers, and staff under relevant legal provisions.
The district administration stated that public safety and smooth traffic movement will not be compromised under any circumstances, and strict action will continue against agencies violating road cutting norms.
