Dehradun – The investigation into the murder of businessman Arjun Sharma near Tibetan Market in Dehradun has revealed a complex web of property disputes and strained family relations. Police have registered an FIR against four persons, including Arjun’s mother Beena Sharma and businessman Vinod Uniyal, on the complaint of his wife Abhilasha.
Arjun Sharma was shot dead in the Dalanwala police station area. His wife has alleged suspicion of murder against Beena Sharma, Vinod Uniyal and others, citing ongoing disputes over property and financial dealings. The complaint also mentions alleged close ties between Beena Sharma and Vinod Uniyal.
Ten days before the incident, on February 2, Vinod Uniyal had filed a complaint at Basant Vihar police station accusing Arjun Sharma of forging signatures on a cheque. Police registered an FIR in that matter on February 3. This prior dispute is now being examined as part of the broader investigation.
Arjun Sharma and his brother Atul Sharma are sons of late Colonel Ramesh Chand Sharma of the Indian Army, who was martyred around 38 years ago. Following his death, the Government of India allotted a gas agency to his wife Beena Sharma for livelihood support. The agency has been operating from ancestral property in Dehradun for nearly 37 years.
According to available information, the family had taken a loan of around Rs 8 crore from Bank of Baroda against the property, with Arjun Sharma acting as a witness and guarantor. Arjun reportedly had objections over financial transactions between his mother and Vinod Uniyal, alleging that large sums of money were transferred. This issue had led to repeated disputes within the family.
In 2024, Beena Sharma filed an FIR against her son alleging assault. In 2025, Arjun Sharma lodged a separate complaint against Beena Sharma, Vinod Uniyal and Sangeeta Uniyal regarding alleged property dealings and fraud related to the gas godown. Beena Sharma subsequently approached the High Court seeking security, citing threat perception, and was provided police protection from Basant Vihar police station.
The dispute also extends to a property on GMS Road that Beena Sharma reportedly sold to Ajay Khanna. A civil case is pending between Arjun Sharma and Ajay Khanna, and Arjun had obtained a stay order from the civil court in the matter.
