Dehradun-Pithoragarh Air Service Suspended Until February 25, Passengers Express Anger

Kedarnath helicopter emergency landing

Dehradun-Pithoragarh air service has been suspended for the past three days, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated. At Naini Saini Airport, 120 passengers had their tickets abruptly canceled, with no clear explanation from the airline. Many suspect that FlyBig has diverted the aircraft to the more profitable Prayagraj route, prioritizing commercial gains over passenger convenience.

FlyBig operates a 22-seater aircraft on this route, catering to over 30 daily passengers. However, for the past three days, no flights have landed at Naini Saini Airport. Instead of providing a proper justification, the airline simply sent cancellation messages, leaving travelers with no alternative. The company, which operates only three aircraft, had one assigned to the Dehradun-Pithoragarh route, but technical issues and scheduling conflicts in other states have led to its suspension.

Passengers Face Booking Issues as Airline Site Remains Unavailable

Sources indicate that one of FlyBig’s aircraft developed a technical fault, prompting the airline to reassign Uttarakhand’s aircraft elsewhere. As a result, passengers have been forced to undertake long road journeys. Additionally, FlyBig’s online booking system has been non-functional for the past 25 days, causing further inconvenience.

Naini Saini Airport Manager Amar Chakma confirmed that flight operations remain suspended, leading to repeated cancellations. Uttarakhand government official Ganesh Bhandari criticized the airline’s decision to reassign the aircraft and stated that the matter would be escalated to higher authorities.
