Starting November 1, vehicular movement on the Devprayag-Rishikesh Highway will be prohibited from 10 PM to 5 AM. This decision is aimed at enhancing road safety and reducing accidents during nighttime hours. Emergency services will be exempt from this restriction.
The Devprayag Police Chief, Mahipal Singh Rawat, announced this decision to the media, citing the frequent accidents that occur on the highway at night. These incidents often result in serious injuries and fatalities. Under the directive of the Superintendent of Police, Tehri, the nighttime traffic ban is intended to prevent such tragic events.
Travelers are advised to plan their overnight stops in advance to avoid any inconvenience during their journeys. In light of the upcoming Diwali festival, the police chief also instructed local vendors to sell fireworks only from designated locations. Any vendor caught selling fireworks from unauthorized places will face legal action.
