District Magistrate’s Surprise Inspection Sparks Panic Among Employees, Action Taken Against Negligence

Dehradun, 13 September 2024 – The ongoing inspection campaign led by Dehradun’s District Magistrate (DM), Savin Bansal, is targeting negligent employees and inefficient working processes within various government offices. Despite heavy rainfall, the DM’s dedication to inspecting offices remains unwavering. During a surprise inspection of his office and several other government departments, he took a strict stance against employees arriving late and exhibiting a lackluster work ethic.

Inspection at Sadar Tehsil

DM Savin Bansal arrived at Tehsil Sadar at 9:50 a.m. and inspected the attendance register. Employees who had not arrived by 10:30 a.m. faced strict disciplinary actions, including the withholding of one day’s salary. Additionally, orders for the transfer and salary cuts of negligent employees were implemented.

Dissatisfaction with Lift and Cleanliness

During the inspection, the DM expressed displeasure with the malfunctioning lift at the MDDA office and instructed for its immediate repair. He also pointed out issues with cleanliness in the office premises. A fine of ₹1 lakh was imposed on the contractor for the unsanitary conditions found on the staircase of the Tehsil compound.

Instructions to Boost Revenue Collection

Reviewing the status of pending recoveries, the DM instructed officials to recover dues from defaulters owing over ₹10 lakh within one month. He warned of suspensions in case of negligence in this matter.

Plans for Parking Facility at Old Tehsil

After inspecting the old Tehsil premises, DM Bansal, along with MDDA, police, and municipal corporation officials, decided to construct a mechanical automated parking system. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion on market roads and improve the overall traffic management in the area.

Focus on Public Interest

DM Bansal urged all officials and employees to handle public grievances with sensitivity and improve slow working processes. He emphasized that negligent bureaucracy will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Additional District Magistrate Jaibharat Singh, Chief Municipal Commissioner Bir Singh Budiyal, Police Officer Anuj Kumar, Tehsildar Surendra Singh, and officials from various departments were present during the inspection.
