Gov offers prayers at Kedarnath Dham

Rudraprayag, 21 Oct: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) visited the Kedarnath Dham on Tuesday, where he offered prayers and performed a special Rudrabhishek ceremony. He prayed for global peace, the prosperity of humanity, and the sustainable development of Uttarakhand.

The Governor also inspected the ongoing reconstruction and development works at the shrine. Executive Engineer, DDM, Vinay Jhinkwan briefed the Governor in detail about the progress of various projects, stating that most of the reconstruction work has been completed while the remaining is in its final stages.

In the temple premises, the Governor was accorded a traditional welcome by the Teerth Purohit community with chanting of Vedic mantras and ritual prayers. Describing his experience as deeply spiritual and emotional, the Governor said, “Every particle of the Kedargati Valley is filled with the divine presence of Lord Shiva. One can feel the essence of Lord Shiva in these sacred mountains. The very moment one steps on this holy land, the mind naturally enters a state of meditation.”

The Governor noted that remarkable progress has been made in pilgrimage management and reconstruction works over the past three years. Appreciating the efforts of the district administration, the temple committee, the police department, SDRF, NDRF, and all supporting agencies, he said, “Your collective efforts have made the Char Dham Yatra more successful, safe, and pilgrim friendly.”

The Governor was also stated that the construction of housing facilities for Teerth Purohits has been largely completed and that issues related to land and building allocation have been resolved. He commended the temple committee and district administration for their coordinated efforts in this regard.

During his visit, the Governor met officers, security personnel, and staff on duty at Kedarnath and encouraged them to continue their dedicated service. He said that the administration, police, and service teams play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and comfortable pilgrimage experience for devotees. Urging everyone to work with sincerity and devotion, the Governor said, “Every staff member must ensure that no pilgrim faces any inconvenience.”

Among those present on the occasion were Additional District Magistrate Shyam Singh Rana, Chief Development Officer Rajendra Singh Rawat, Chief Executive Officer of the Temple Committee Vijay Thapliyal, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Ukhimath, Anil Shukla, Temple Committee President Pt Rajkumar Tiwari, General Secretary Rajendra Tiwari, Minister Ankit Prasad Semwal, along with other officials, employees, and members of the Teerth Purohit community.
