The Uttarakhand High Court has ordered the postponement of the proposed written examination for 200 lecturer posts in government polytechnic colleges, scheduled for March 22 and 23. A bench comprising Chief Justice G. Narendra and Justice Alok Mehra directed the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) to consult the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) before announcing a new exam date.
The decision came in response to a petition filed by B.Tech and M.Tech graduate Madhusudan, who argued that the recruitment process violated AICTE norms. While AICTE mandates both B.Tech and M.Tech qualifications for such positions, UKPSC had set B.Tech as the sole eligibility criterion.
The court has also instructed UKPSC to ensure wide public dissemination of the exam’s postponement. The recruitment notification was originally released in July 2024 for lecturer positions in mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering disciplines.
