Jatin Sharma Wins Two Bronze Medals for Uttarakhand at Khelo India Para Games 2025

Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium witnessed a remarkable performance by Uttarakhand’s para-athlete Jatin Sharma, who secured two bronze medals at the second Khelo India Para Games 2025. Competing in the T11 category for visually impaired athletes, Jatin was accompanied by his guide runner Ayush from the Vikasnagar Athletics Club.

Jatin clocked 19.58 minutes in the 5000-meter race to claim third place. He also completed the 1500-meter race in 5.08 minutes, earning his second bronze medal. Notably, he was the only visually impaired athlete from Uttarakhand to qualify for the Games, having secured his spot during the Para National Athletics Meet in Chennai.

Balancing Studies and Sports
Jatin is a Class 11 student at the Adarsh Vidyalaya under the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) in Dehradun. His guide runner, Ayush, recently completed his intermediate education and is preparing for college.

For the past three years, Jatin has been training under the guidance of coach Naresh Singh Nyal. Meanwhile, Ayush is an athlete from the Vikasnagar Athletics Club, mentored by the club’s founder, Prabhjot Singh. Singh expressed pride in Ayush’s dedication and performance, emphasizing how he proved his potential when given the opportunity.

Celebrations and Support
Jatin’s achievement has brought immense joy to both NIEPVD and Vikasnagar Athletics Club. The school’s principal, Amit Sharma, granted Jatin permission to participate in the Games, recognizing his athletic potential. Despite ongoing annual examinations, Jatin prioritized the competition and will now return to complete his remaining exams.
