Nainital — A 39-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound under suspicious circumstances at a restaurant near Kainchi Dham in the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. at the Kiroula Restaurant located near the famous Kainchi Dham temple.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Anand Singh, a resident of Betalghat. Upon receiving information, a team from Bhawali Police reached the spot and took possession of the body.
Sub-Inspector Asif Khan from Kotwali Police Station confirmed that the firearm involved in the incident was licensed. “The forensic team has been called to the site for examination, and the body has been sent for postmortem. The exact cause and circumstances of the firing will be confirmed after the investigation,” he said.
Police have informed the family members of the deceased, and further investigation is underway to determine whether the incident was accidental or involved foul play.
