Police have exposed the alleged attack on Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behar’s son and Awas Vikas councillor Saurabh Behar, revealing that the incident was staged on his own instructions. The investigation found that Saurabh paid ₹1,500 through his close associate Inder Narang to get himself attacked. Police have arrested Inder Narang along with three attackers and recovered illegal weapons from their possession.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Manikant Mishra, the incident occurred on Sunday night in Rudrapur when Saurabh Behar was on his way to attend a local panchayat related to an earlier dispute. He reported that three bike-borne attackers pushed his scooter, assaulted him, and fled, after which he was admitted to a private hospital with injuries. Following the complaint, police formed eight teams to trace the attackers.
On Wednesday night, during routine patrolling on SIDCUL Road, police noticed three youths on a motorcycle without a number plate acting suspiciously. When stopped and questioned, they were identified as Vansh Kumar, Badshah, and Deepak Singh. A search led to the recovery of two country-made pistols, live cartridges, and a knife.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that they had attacked Saurabh Behar at Awas Vikas near the Ring Road on the instructions of Inder Narang, who paid them ₹1,500 for the job. Police later arrested Inder Narang, a resident of Adarsh Colony, who acted as the link between the attackers and the councillor.

Police officials said the attackers initially refused after hearing the MLA’s family name. However, Inder Narang later told them that the attack was planned at Saurabh Behar’s own request, after which they agreed. All four accused have been produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
