Leopard Attack in Champawat: Villagers Demand Action After Man Killed

Champawat – A 42-year-old man, Dev Singh Adhikari, was killed by a leopard on Tuesday morning in Dhargada village under Chaurani Gram Sabha of Barakot block, Champawat. He had gone out for toilet and did not return. Villagers later discovered that a leopard had attacked and killed him. The incident has created fear and anger across the area, and a large crowd gathered at the spot.

Villagers demanded that the forest department declare the leopard a man-eater and kill it before another tragedy occurs. They said that continuous leopard sightings have troubled the area, but authorities have not taken strong steps for safety.

A forest department team led by Forester Prakash Giri Goswami from Kali Kumaon Range reached the location and started investigation. Villagers warned that they will intensify protests if quick action is not taken.
