A two-storey house in Kanda Malla village under Bironkhal block, Kotdwar, was struck by lightning on Wednesday morning, causing significant damage to the structure.
According to reports, the lightning strike hit the residence of Anil Pokhriyal, leading to extensive damage to the upper floor of the house. The impact caused cracks in the walls and burned electrical wiring, while several electrical appliances were destroyed.
Fortunately, the family members were on the ground floor at the time of the incident and escaped unhurt. Following the mishap, the local revenue inspector was informed for assessment and further action.
House owner Anil Pokhriyal estimated the total loss to be around two lakh rupees due to the damage caused by the lightning strike.
