Dehradun, 8 Oct: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) had organised a one-day ‘Apple Festival 1.0’ last year in its regional office premises with the aim of providing a platform to connect apple and kiwi producing farmers and farmer producer organisations in the state of Uttarakhand directly with the customers. Encouraged by its success, ‘Apple Festival 2.0’ is being organised this year.
NABARD has promoted Farmer Producer Organisations and Self-Help Groups of marginal and small farmers in the state.
In this festival, ‘A’ grade Royal Delicious, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious apples produced by NABARD supported the Farmer Producer Organisation of Harshil Valley, Kiwi fruit produced through natural method by the farmers of Kapkot, excellent hill products (walnuts, kidney beans, GI tagged products, juices, pickles, handloom products, herbs, etc.) from other Farmer Producer Organisations and Self Help Groups will be available for purchase.
Ganesh Joshi, Minister, Agriculture and Rural Development, Uttarakhand, will inaugurate the event on 9 October, at the NABARD Regional Office, Plot No. 42, IT Park, Sahastradhara Road, Dehradun.
