Two Minor Sisters Found in Burqa With Two Men in Nanakmatta, Locals Intervene; Police Begin Probe

Udham Singh Nagar — Tension spread in Nanakmatta on Monday after two minor school-going sisters were found roaming with two young men from another community while wearing burqas. Locals, suspicious of their actions, stopped them and handed one of the men over to the police, while the other fled the spot.

According to local sources, the two sisters had left home in school uniforms from Sitarganj area and later reached near Nanak Sagar Dam along with the two youths. Witnesses claim that after some time, the minors were seen in burqas, which raised suspicion among nearby people. When questioned, one of the youths managed to escape, while the other was detained by residents and later handed over to the police.

The police took the minors and the detained young man to the Nanakmatta police station. Meanwhile, family members rushed to the station after receiving information. The parents accused the youths of luring the girls with wrongful intent and have submitted a written complaint demanding strict action.

Parents and local residents expressed deep concern over the incident, calling it a serious lapse in safety regarding minors. The episode has revived ongoing public worries about increasing cases of manipulation and exploitation of young girls.

Nanakmatta Station House Officer (SHO) Umesh Kumar confirmed that the complaint has been received and investigation has begun.
He said, “A case of luring two minor girls has come to light. Due to engagement in another matter, we have not yet met the families in detail. A written complaint has been filed and appropriate action will be taken soon.”

The escape of one accused has raised further questions about security vigilance and investigative urgency. Residents argue that until clear facts emerge, strict and unbiased investigation is essential to restore public trust and ensure the safety of minors.
