Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Friday, transferred ₹1.72 billion directly to the bank accounts of 40,504 beneficiaries under the Nanda Gaura Yojana for the financial year 2024-25 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Over the past five years, a total of 284,559 beneficiaries have received ₹9.68 billion through this scheme.
Under the Nanda Gaura Yojana, girls in Uttarakhand are provided with financial assistance of ₹11,000 at birth and ₹51,000 upon passing class 12. For the financial year 2024-25, ₹98.16 million was transferred to the accounts of 8,616 newborn girls, while ₹1.62 billion was disbursed to 31,888 girls who completed class 12.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dhami reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering girls and promoting education through various schemes, including the Nanda Gaura Yojana. He emphasized that such initiatives play a crucial role in supporting the daughters of economically weaker families in Uttarakhand. He also highlighted the success of other programs like the Balika Shiksha Protsahan Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Mahalaxmi Kit Yojana aimed at enhancing the welfare of girls.
The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, Secretary Chandresh Kumar Yadav, Director of Women Empowerment and Child Development Prashant Arya, and other officials from the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department.
