Project Utkarsh: Digital Learning to Get a Boost in Uttarakhand with Pilot in 50 Schools

To modernize basic education, the Dehradun district administration has partnered with the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation. Under Project Utkarsh, students from classes 5 to 9 across the state will receive digital learning support in mathematics, science, and English.

₹5 Crore Allocated for School Digitization

District Magistrate Savin Bansal has instructed the Chief Education Officer to ensure all necessary preparations for online classes under the “Vidya Shakti” initiative. In the first phase, 50 schools will be selected for the pilot project, equipped with internet, Wi-Fi, LED TVs, and other digital resources. An additional ₹5 crore has been sanctioned to make schools hi-tech, as per the Chief Minister’s directive.

Bridging the Teacher Shortage with Online Learning

Project Utkarsh will offer online education, benefiting students who cannot afford private tutoring. Dr. S. Subramaniam from Vidya Shakti Open Mentor mentioned that with the support of the Tara Joshi Foundation, digital learning will be provided in the local Hindi language.

Interactive Simulations and Virtual Labs for Effective Learning

The initiative will incorporate interactive simulations, virtual labs, and gamified learning to make education engaging and accessible. Key officials, including Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Chief Education Officer V.K. Dhaundiyal, Dr. S. Subramaniam from Open Mentor, and Kiran Joshi from the Tara Joshi Foundation, participated in the project meeting.
