Silver Jubilee Week to be celebrated in U’khand from 3 to 9 Nov, preparations underway

Dehradun, 22 Oct: A week-long Silver Jubilee celebration will be organised across all districts from 3 to 9 November to mark the completion of 25 years of the formation of Uttarakhand. In Dehradun, special programmes will be held. In this regard, District Magistrate Savin Bansal today convened a meeting with the district-level officers to review the preparations for the Foundation Day and Silver Jubilee Week celebrations. He directed the officials to ensure timely and comprehensive arrangements for the series of programmes to be held at the district headquarters, as well as at the block and tehsil levels, and emphasised the need to encourage active public participation in the events.

The DM announced that grand programmes will be organised every day during the Silver Jubilee Week, each based on a distinct theme highlighting the state’s progress and identity. The daily themes will focus on important issues such as Nari Shakti Diwas (Women Power Day), Sushasan Diwas (Good Governance Day), Youth and Sports, Environment and Climate Change, Shireedon Ko Naman (Salute to Martyrs), Historical and Cultural Heritage, Rojgar Diwas (Employment Day), Swadeshi Khadya (Indigenous Food), and Vikas Ka Safar (Journey of Development).

Bansal directed the officials to ensure that all events at the district, tehsil, and block levels are organised with full coordination. On Nari Shakti Diwas, exhibitions will be held showcasing products prepared by Self Help Groups (SHGs) and NRLM collectives. On Sushasan Diwas, large multi-purpose camps will be organised at every block level to address public grievances on the spot. Youth Day will feature adventure sports such as cross-country races, paragliding, and hot air ballooning. A workshop by the Reserve Bank of India will also be conducted to educate citizens about banking facilities and financial inclusion.

The DM further directed that extensive awareness campaigns be conducted on drug de-addiction, road safety, environmental protection, and climate change. Cultural programmes will be organised at historical and heritage sites, while the contributions of freedom fighters and martyrs will be remembered and honoured. Educational institutions will hold seminars, essay writing, painting, and other competitions on the theme of Vision 2050, focusing on the roadmap for Uttarakhand’s future development.

Among those present at the meeting included Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) KK Mishra, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Manoj Kumar Sharma, District Tourism Officer Brijendra Pandey, District Social Welfare Officer Dipankar Ghildiyal, and other senior district officers and they assured full coordination to make the Silver Jubilee Week a grand success reflecting the spirit and progress of Uttarakhand.
