In a significant move to improve healthcare in Uttarakhand, the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has upgraded the Community Health Center (CHC) in Sitarganj to a Sub-District Hospital and the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Mori to a CHC. This upgrade comes with approvals for additional staff, including specialist doctors, ensuring that residents of these regions will no longer need to travel to metro cities for quality medical treatment. The local public has expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat for this much-needed improvement.
According to Uttarakhand Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, the 30-bed CHC in Sitarganj has been upgraded to a 90-bed Sub-District Hospital. A total of 65 positions have been approved to operate the hospital, including 40 new posts (20 permanent and 20 outsourced). Among these, key roles include a Chief Medical Officer, an Orthopedic Surgeon, an Ophthalmologist, a Radiologist, a Pathologist, Senior Nursing Officers, Nursing Officers, and a Lab Technician. These regular positions will be temporary. Additionally, 20 positions will be filled through outsourcing.

Similarly, as part of the Chief Minister’s earlier announcement, the PHC in Mori has been upgraded to a CHC, with 37 positions approved (25 temporary and 12 outsourced). These include positions for a Medical Superintendent, Public Health Specialist, General Surgeon, Physician, Gynecologist, Pediatrician, Anesthetist, Dental Surgeon, Nursing Officers, and Lab Technicians.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that strengthening public healthcare infrastructure is a top priority for the government. This includes upgrading medical institutions and equipping them with modern facilities. Special attention is being given to ensuring the presence of doctors in hospitals, availability of life-saving equipment, and medicines, particularly in the mountainous regions of the state.
