Solar Energy Users in Uttarakhand Object to Fixed Charges by UPCL

Consumers in Uttarakhand who generate electricity using solar power under the PM Suryaghar Yojana have raised objections against the fixed charges imposed by Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL). They are demanding an exemption from these charges, particularly for those producing minimal electricity.

UPCL applies fixed charges per kilowatt for all consumers, with rates revised annually by the Regulatory Commission. The upcoming tariff adjustments, effective from April 1, will include a decision on these fixed charges. However, solar power producers argue that since they generate their own electricity, imposing additional fees is unfair.
