Champawat, 5 Nov: Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) visited district Champawat on a one-day tour on Wednesday. On the auspicious occasion of the Prakash Parv (birth anniversary) of the first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Governor paid obeisance at the renowned Sikh pilgrimage site, Gurudwara Shri Reetha Sahib, and prayed for peace, prosperity, and happiness of the people of the nation and the state.
After offering prayers at Gurudwara Shri Reetha Sahib, the Governor attended the Ardas (prayer). He said that visiting the sacred land of Reetha Sahib on the pious occasion of the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is a moment of great fortune and inspiration for him. He remarked, “This land, sanctified by the feet of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, is filled with divinity and spiritual peace; being here brings a profound sense of serenity.”
The Governor stated that this pilgrimage site is not only a center of devotion for followers of Sikhism but also spiritual inspiration for all humanity.
He added that through his teachings, Guru Nanak Dev Ji conveyed messages of humanity, equality, and service, which continue to illuminate society even today.
He said, “The principle of Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, and Vand Chhako (meditate on God’s name, earn an honest living, and share with others) forms the foundation of human life and symbolizes truth, honesty, hard work, and mutual cooperation.”
Lt Gen Singh further said that the land of Uttarakhand, the Devbhoomi (Land of the Gods), is adorned with sacred Sikh pilgrimage sites, among which Reetha Sahib holds a prominent place. The teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji are a source of inspiration not only for the Sikh community but for all of humanity. His life teaches us the values of love, tolerance, harmony, and brotherhood.
After paying obeisance and attending the Ardas, the Governor participated in the Langar (community meal) organized in the Gurudwara premises and partook of the Langar Prasad.
He appealed to the people of the state to draw inspiration from the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and contribute to building a better society.
On this occasion, the Governor interacted with the Sangat (devotees) and wished for social harmony, prosperity, and happiness in the state.
The program was attended by Baba Shyam Singh (Manager), District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, Chief Development Officer Dr GS Khati, Ajit Pal Singh, Harbinder Singh, Sardar Malkit Singh, Dilbag Singh Bagga, Mandeep Singh, Ranjit Singh, Sonu Bohra (District Panchayat Member), and many other dignitaries, devotees, and members of the Sangat in large numbers.
