Angry traders in Tehri’s Bauradi area allegedly locked officials inside a room, protesting against delays and alleged negligence in development works being carried out under the Asian Development Bank (ADB) project. The incident highlights growing frustration among local businessmen over incomplete infrastructure.
Members of the Bauradi Udyog Vyapar Mandal accused ADB authorities of misleading them by claiming that work at the Gas Godown Market had been completed. Traders said several essential works remain unfinished, yet officials were presenting the project as complete.
The Tehri traders protest intensified as businessmen demanded that the market should only be reopened after all pending work is fully completed. They submitted a memorandum to the project management, raising concerns over poor supervision by the site engineer and contractor at the Upper Theatre Market.
According to traders, despite repeated complaints, no corrective action has been taken so far. Key works such as ramp construction, flooring, painting, landscaping, electrical fittings, toilets, and installation of window frames and glass are still incomplete at the main entrance of the furniture market.
