Traffic Rule Violators in Kumaon to Face Digital Tracking, License Cancellation on Third Offense

A digital record of repeat traffic rule violators will now be maintained in Kumaon. If a person is caught violating traffic rules for the third time, their driving license will be canceled, along with a fine. A district-wise list of habitual offenders is being prepared to curb road accidents.

Over 58,000 Violations in Three Years

In the past three years, more than 58,000 traffic violations, including overspeeding, mobile phone usage while driving, drunk driving, driving without a license, overloading, rash driving, and stunts, have been recorded in Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Almora, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Champawat. The police have collected over ₹34 crore in fines. Offenders caught for the third time will have their cases forwarded to the RTO for license cancellation.

128 Vehicles Challaned Between Haldwani and Bhimtal

On Wednesday, a transport department checking drive from Haldwani to Bhimtal resulted in challans for 128 vehicles. Additionally, five auto-rickshaws and one e-rickshaw were seized for document discrepancies and rule violations.
