Roorkee: Two Rohingya Muslims were reported to have arrived in Roorkee, triggering concerns among the police and intelligence agencies. The duo, who stayed overnight at a local inn, were seen collecting donations in the area before leaving for Amroha.
According to reports, the two individuals were spotted seeking donations at Badshah Chowk on March 17. Their suspicious behavior led a local resident to inform the police and intelligence department. Upon questioning, the two identified themselves as Mohammad Taris and Shabir Ahmed, Rohingya refugees from Hyderabad, carrying UN-issued refugee cards.
Given Roorkee’s history of security concerns, including previous bomb blasts and the arrest of Bangladeshi nationals, the presence of Rohingya individuals has heightened vigilance. Recent incidents like threats to blow up the railway station and a gas cylinder found on the tracks have further amplified security measures.
