The Education Department has intensified its scrutiny into the fake disability certificate case, confirming that not only the teachers but also the doctors who issued the suspected certificates will now face investigation. According to officials, 51 teachers secured government jobs under the disability quota using certificates later found to be suspicious.
Director of Secondary Education Dr. Mukul Kumar Sati has issued notices to the teachers involved, directing them to present evidence within 15 days. The department will proceed with further action based on their responses. Officials stated that many certificates were issued under categories such as locomotor disability, visual impairment, and orthopedic disability.
During appointments, the department only verifies the certificate as presented and does not have the authority to question its medical authenticity. Therefore, if the certificates are proven false, the doctors who issued them will also be held accountable.
Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that in 2022, the certificates were examined through the State Medical Board, which found several to be invalid. He confirmed that these certificates were issued by doctors associated with the Divyangjan Medical Board, raising serious concerns over the verification process.
