Dehradun- In a major administrative decision, the Uttarakhand government has approved the long-pending demand of granting SDACP (Special Duty Allowance Cum Promotion) benefits to dental surgeons under the Provincial Medical Service cadre. Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar issued the official order on Friday, 31 October 2025, marking a significant step toward improving service parity and morale within the state’s healthcare system.
The decision has been made based on previous government orders numbered 654 (July 2016) and 154 (February 2019). The approval follows the recommendations of the Screening Committee and the concurrence of the Medical Education Section-1, Dehradun. With this, dental surgeons across the state will now be eligible for both promotion-related benefits and special duty allowances.
Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar stated that the government is continuously working to strengthen healthcare services across Uttarakhand. He noted that this long-awaited decision will not only provide financial relief to dental surgeons but also enhance their motivation and commitment toward public health. “The aim is to ensure that every healthcare officer receives the respect and recognition they deserve,” he added.
According to the Health Department, the implementation of SDACP will bring both economic and professional benefits to dental officers, thereby boosting efficiency in rural and urban health services alike. Many dental surgeons had been waiting for this benefit for several years, and its approval marks a major stride in achieving service parity among medical professionals in the state.
