Uttarakhand State Hikes Sugarcane Price by ₹30 Per Quintal

Uttarakhand – The government has increased the procurement price of sugarcane by ₹30 per quintal. The new rate for the early variety is now ₹405 per quintal, while the rate for the general variety has been fixed at ₹395 per quintal.

According to the Chief Minister, the objective is to strengthen farmers financially and ensure timely payment at fair rates. Last crushing season (2024–25), the state-advised price was ₹375 per quintal for the early variety and ₹365 per quintal for the general variety. The price announcement followed consultations with cooperative, public and private sugar mills, the Sugarcane Development & Sugar Industry Department, farmer organizations, and other stakeholders.

The decision was taken after reviewing the Central Government’s FRP, sugarcane prices in Uttar Pradesh, and the state’s agricultural and geographic conditions. The CM said that farmer welfare remains the top priority of the government, and directed departments to ensure smooth operations at purchase centers and timely payment without delays.
